August Meet

WELCOME TO AUGUST!!!

WOW, the summer is flying by. It is already August and time to meet up again this Sunday (8/3). Coastal MINIS is meeting at Starbucks on Victory Drive & Skidaway Road at 10am. See the link for the map under NEW LOCATION FOR MEETING. It will be good to see everyone again and hope to see some new faces too:)

For those that missed it, on July 19th some of the Coastal MINI members met with Jacksonville Area MINI Motorers (JAMM) for Boots, Bonnets, & Bowling in St. Marys. 19 MINIS and over 30 people showed up for the event. The group owned the parking lot and the bowling lanes. Although I had couple bad games (44 & 86 to be exact), everyone enjoy the event. It was great to see JAMM again and hope we can get together on another meet soon.

Fun Run '08

Many of you know we've been in the planning stages of our annual big event. This event is tentatively scheduled for August 9th & 10th. The general schedule will go something like this:
We will be attending a Savannah Sandgnats baseball game on the Saturday afternoon/evening. This would be a cookout/tailgater and then the game with special treatment for us while we're there. Then an evening on the town taking in a couple of local watering holes. Sunday morning we'll have breakfast, followed by a mid-day drive, and we would finish off sunday afternoon at Leopold's Ice Cream, complete with closing the street like we did for the Great Ice Cream Run.

HOWEVER, we have run into some snags in scheduling. We found out last week or so that the annual Phil Wicks driving school is being held at Roebling Road in Savannah for the first time on that same weekend (August 9th & 10th). There are a few people already scheduled to attend that event, and may or may not be able to come motor with us afterwards. So, we are putting it to a vote:
Would you rather our "Fun Run" of baseball and ice cream coincide with the Phil Wicks event, or push it back to the weekend after Labor Day or even October? Please vote because we need as much input as possible!!!!!!

In other news we have decided to change our location once again to the new Starbucks on Victory and Skidaway. There is ample parking, visibility, seating, and most importantly, coffee!! If we decide to leave the date for our event on the 9th & 10th of August then that will be our final planning session.

Oh and one more thing, welcome Charisse and her husband to our monthly meetings! Thanks for coming!!!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

Even though it's a holiday weekend, if you get a chance stop and see us this coming Sunday for our Monthly Meeting. However, we are not meeting at the usual spot. We decided to change it up a bit and we will be meeting this Sunday the 5th, at 10:00am at the Sonic on Montgomery Crossroads. Come check it out!

Around the middle of June, MTTS flew through Savannah on the tails of "The Flying Finn"Rauno Aaltonen, who is quite an accomplished MINI race car driver, on their way to Boston from Miami. They stopped at the visitors center, had lunch at Blowin' Smoke BBQ, and even had time for some ice cream at Leopold's. It was wonderful to meet everyone! We are still working on planning our August event with the Savannah Sand Gnats. This will surely be discussed at our meeting on Sunday at The Sonic on Montgomery Crossroads. Hope to see you there!
